This block pattern is called Circle of Geese from http://www.piecebynumber.com. I changed the color arrangements and added some customization to make it my own.

block 2This technique of quilt piecing is called foundation piecing or paper piecing. Instead of cutting the fabric in pieces and stitching them to make pattern, here the pattern itself is printed on paper and is used as a foundation to guide you stitch. The above mentioned website is a good source to learn the technique if you are interested.

I appliqued the numbers 3, 2, 1 to customize it.  I stitched a decorative border and added a colorful binding to finish the quilt.

Hope this quilt will bring rainbow of colors in our lives!

Are You Ready for Christmas?

P1000207

Our home is ready for Christmas! What about yours?

This year my son decorated our Christmas tree! However it was missing a tree skirt. So I bought some red suede  fabric and contrasting cotton for the trim and made one.  With only the trim  it looked too  plain, so I appliqued some candy cane  in the skirt using the left over fabric from the trim . Now my son is very happy to see the candy cane tree skirt and wants to put real candy cane in the tree! That is another story :-).

Last time when my mom visited she was making cross stitch borders to be put in towels. She is involved in a charitable organization and makes them for their fundraiser. I got the idea and  made few to lift the holiday mood. Yes Mom you are always my inspiration!

Hello Friends!

hello friendFinally I am starting my own blog. Recently so many of my friends kept asking details of my handmade crafts, I thought its time to explain! When my dear husband told me a year ago to start writing blogs for my hobbies, I completely ignored him as usual. “Are you crazy?? Me and blog! No way! I am a techie person after all.” Now here I am convinced by another dear friend of mine starting my own blog to connect to friends and family to share my hobbies and lifestyle a bit. Thank you Madsie for pushing me out of my comfort zone and made me thinking seriously about writing blog.
So stay tuned for the next one where I will be writing about the quilt in the picture that I recently finished.
